The Great American Challenge

5th grade students are encouraged to work towards completing 8 challenges throughout the year as part of the Great American Challenge. These activities are to be studied outside of the classroom.
Students who complete all challenges successfully, will receive an award. The purpose of this challenge is to encourage young citizens to learn more about our country and to take an active role in citizenship.
August Write the Pledge of Allegiance
September Label a map with all the states and correct state abbreviations
October List the capitals for each state
November Write or sing the first verse of the Star Spangled Banner
December Lable all the bodies of water of the United States
January Recite the Preamble of the Constitution
February Recite the Presidents of the United States in order of serving
March Recite the first 2 stanzas of "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere"
